Opposition Leader, John Brogden, resigns after calling ex-Premier Bob Carr's wife, Helena (of Malaysian extraction), a mail-order bride, at an Australian Hotelier's function on August 5, 2005. His apology to the Carrs was rejected, with Bob Carr looking very T-O'd, demanding Brogden's sacking. Whew.

I cannot believe that a politican of Brogden's calibre could call another politician's wife a mail-order bride in a room full of other people and think he could get away with denying it. IMHO, he came off as insincere and smug in parts of his press meeting and second public apology to Helena Carr.

Then there are those two journos, one of whom he claims to have been friends with for fifteen some-odd years. Har.

While he will still be a representative for Pittwater, Brogden's exit as Opposition Leader was thoroughly LOL-some. Again! Again!
